Hi all,new on here, my names Nathan been collecting odds and ends for a few years now, i have come across this knife. I think its an early Ka-Bar , the blade is 18 cm long and the handle is 13 cm. The sheath has not got any markings on it and the knife is only stamped Ka-Bar olean NY.

Is it an early USMC or USN Ka-bar or is it post war? Any information would be great, thanks

It's a shame someone took a grinder to the blade

I have one that my Dad owned very similar to what is pictured here, but it has no maker's marks of any kind on it. At the end of the dark leather hand grip the round metal end has a rectangular shape rather than the square one in picture #3. When I looked at the military fighting knives link, I did not see one exactly like it. Interestingly, I did find a name scratched in the divot near the non-sharp (so technical?? - help me out please) with the name of Sgt Draper scratched into the blade ( not my father's name).
