I'm jealous, but last year walking the streets of a couple former bombed out cities of the old Reich : Koblenz and Köln. Speyer was interesting as well

and possible Skipper stomping grounds the beautiful Alsace from Colmar, Obernai road to Strassbourg much of the ruins have been removed, remodeled

Hmm well i don't really know how they call it in english, but in my town there are kind of small hills where soldiers have been barried (?) see that hills 6 times a week if im bringing the papers round.

And visited camp Vught and also some bunkers in the dunes in Zandvoort and Vlissingen and bunkers that are boven the ground in Weert. not that much, but im not sure where all the places are in my environment:eek:

But i would like to go underground in Berlin like they do in that program on History Channel Beneed the city's (?) where they did show the bunkers in berlin that are quet deep into the ground.

Went to Hawaii in April. We allotted a day to visit Pearl Harbor. It was pretty amazing, though they rush you at the Memorial itself. Got to meet 2 WW2 Vets there. I didn't realize they just cut off the top and left the ship as is. There is a constant oil leakage that floats on the water. They call this tears from the sailors, choked me up.

Went to the USS Missouri afterwards. It was strange to see modern weapons mixed in with the original. And wooden decks! They have veterans there to answer questions as well, not WW2 but veterans who served on the ship later.

In the late 70s, stationed in Sicily, I visited Naples, Palermo & Sigonila. While stationed in Iceland, I visited London, Nimes, France, Normandy Beach, Weisbadan, Germany (took a cruise on the Rhine) & Copenhagen, Denmark. In each of these places we landed at the local Military bases.

Later in life I visited Paris, Rome & Malta.

I didn't realize that either. Could you elaborate what you mean "cut the top off"? You mean everything but the hull, correct?

Let me add the USS Pompanito, SS Jeremiah O'Brien, USS Texas and USS Alabama as well.

    The Arizona's remains below water:

Much of what was removed from the Arizona is still sitting on Wapio Peninsula. Purposely left open to the elements so they can use that as a deterioration guide.

Here's another memorial at Pearl Harbor many forget about: The USS Utah.

I've visited Hiroshima before, and I'm going to Nagasaki next week. I've also visited Pearl Harbor and various monuments and such in Okinawa. I've also gone to the Manzanar former internment camp for Japanese-Americans in California.
