USS Colorado, My grandfather served on it. He saw a heck of a lot of action in the war and told me all about it!

The 82nd Airborne Division of course. After that it would be the Flying Tigers, the Afrika Korps, and the PT boat units. I always did like the Highland formations, with their bag pipes and all too. I guess it would be "the king's bag pipes" to be correct....

I also like to study the USS Indianapolis. There is a nice memorial in Indianapolis and a reunion there every year.

    Great list Za. :)

One question, what about the 6th Guards Tank Army as well? How could you leave off Colonel General Kravchenko. Who fought against Germany and then Japan.

The Order of the Red Banner might be awarded to this or that army, it's not a generic title. Other Orders that could be awarded to units included the Order of Kutuzov, Suvorov, Alexandre Nevsky, etc.

These awards were more visible post war in less hectic occasions. You might read, for instance, of full titles like; "2nd Schock Army, Order of the Red Banner, Order of Kutuzov".
