Hello all. My grandfather was in the 209th then the 72nd. I have been working on a map/timeline of his trip through the war that some of you may be interested in.

I just scored a unit annual published in 1942 for the 209th Coastal Artillery Regiment that later became the 72nd AAA. If anyone has someone they would like me to look for, I'd be happy to.

Your dad is in a unit journal I just bought from 1942. He was in D battery at the time of printing.

What about Richard Charles Jones? May not be in there as he met up/joined with the 209th in North Africa.

He's not. The last entry in the "history" is February 28, 1942, well before the unit left the US for Ireland.

My father was in the 209th, which became the 898th. I have a fair amount of info and pictures. A man named John Merchant publushed an extensive history. Your post is from 3 years ago but if you are still interested I will share what I have.

    Greetings -

I realize this is a dated post but ran across it while researching my grandfather's service. I have a diary of places and dates that that he kept. It also includes an address for him while he was in NY, NY as: Btry B 209 C.A. (A.A.) A.P.O 813 New York, NY.

We also have another document that states he belonged to 5th Army, 209th Coast Artillery, First Battalion, Company B. He was a TEC4 and worked/maintained radar

Would love to share information / notes.

    Thanks All

Hi, I am still around. I can't find my notes right now but do you know which unit your grandfather was in after the 209th was broken up? My father joined the 209th in North Africa as a replacement.

Thank you so much. My father was in the 209th, Battery G. Unfortunately his photo is not in the yearbook. Oh well. I have quite a few photos from Camp Stewart and the various campaigns they were in. Just found this forum so will post those photos in the next few weeks.
