The british saved the world in 1940 and the amercans came 2 the rescue in 42 but who actully saved the world and won ww2
Man thats really really hard to say, but i think that most allied countries did all they could and thats what matters.... they all won WW2 KBO
The closest you'll get to just one country is good old Britain who in 1940 didn't loose the war but that's a different thing from winning the war. So just so we're clear a Brit is admiting WE DIDN'T WIN THE WAR
Nor ever will be. I believe this question has been asked before on this forum, I'd just have a hard time finding all the related topics. It suffices to say that the Battle of Britain has been decisively determined as the most decisive battle of WW2 in that topic, and that the Soviets destroyed 80% of the German ground forces in WW2, largely with Lend-Lease American, Canadian and British equipment. Draw your conclusions. Then, who saved Western Europe from communism, well: The US, Great Britain, Canada, France, Poland, Czech, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Brazil, the Commonwealth nations including Australia, New Zealand, Rhodesia, India and so on... The Western Allies.
Saved??? If the Western allies and the US were more involved in keeping the Japanese, Italians and Germans in check during the 1930s, WWII may have been prevented. If their own interests were not endangered, do you think the US and Britain would have rightiously "save" the world? Or Russia for that matter, who did not hesitate for a moment to devour half of Poland. The West should have been more assertive when Hitler took over Austria, Hungary.... U.S. wasn't going to do much to Japan except sending a few flyboys to China in a symbolic gesture and impose trade and oil embargoes. "Saved" the world, please, don't be so naive.
if the axis powers had won the world would be under a tryanical rule so how saved the world from that
Well, the communist part of the world was still under tyrannical rule after WW2, involuntarily overcome by Soviet expansion or disappointed in communism and its results. The rest of the world was "free" in that it was no longer fascist or communist, but most of it was still under colonial rule or the new reign of the Dollar. It's all relative. If you want to know the answer of who saved the world from the particular threat of fascism, then the answer is "the Allies"; you can't be more specific than that.
Oh, ok, no funny bone this time, eh. Seriously, the Allies won the secound world war. The corporations are winning WWIII, and we are letting them because we have our TV's, VCR's and Nintendo to play with Ooops, I will stop there as that is a different thread all together.
But there was! Remember how Speer prevented the scorched earth strategy to be employed in Germany: he was trying to prevent more stuff from being destroyed. And remember the Morgenthau plan; it obviously found a lot of stuff left to destroy.
Yep, mine too. In essence the British, Americans, and to some extend the Russians saved themselves, not the world. The human civilization have existed for thousands of years before WWII, and will continue to exist even after these empires have faded.
The World To quote Douglas Adams 'the world is big enough and old enough to look after itself' He didn't mention what state humankind would be in though
