Does anyone know who this soldier is? I would like to know the story behind this picture and what unit he was with. This guy had true grit!
Photo crops up on pinterest with caption 13 Jul 1944: T/Sgt. Meredith Rogers with his sniper-damaged helmet. Have no idea how accurate that is.
This might be his FindaGrave page. T. Sgt. shows to the left of the red flowers. https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=40729415&ref=acom
His smiling face reminds me of a quote: There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result. - Winston Churchill And this more recent variation: There's nothing better than getting shot at and missed. It's really great. - James "Mad Dog" Mattis
