I was trained to repair small arms during my working career and had the chance to work on a number of different weapons. Among those were a couple of different models of German HK’s, beautiful weapons but good lord so much more complicated than anything else I encountered.

It seems Germans should remember the KISS rule (Keep It Simple, Stupid). ;)

Germans seem to think KISS is Keep it Super Specialised. Look at the HK-P7 pistol. The old HK delayed blowback system was pretty simple. Wasn't hard to work on the bolt or the trigger group. I wasn't taught how to work on the set-trigger group for them though.
