Kelly: Russian Air Defenses Work Well for Ukraine - Air Force Magazine

Ukrainian forces are making good use of their Russian-made air defense systems, and Russia’s slow progress in Ukraine is an indication of how important it is to have air superiority, Air Combat Command boss Gen. Mark D. Kelly said March 9. However, the U.S. needs new weapons to equip its fighters because adversaries are getting better at detecting even low-observable aircraft.

Speaking at a McAleese and Associates conference in Washington, D.C., Kelly said Russian S-300 and S400 air defense systems are “operating pretty well, operated by Ukrainians.” Unconfirmed reports indicate dozens of Russian aircraft have been shot down in the week-old invasion of Ukraine. Russia has also bogged down due to “logistical challenges [and] morale challenges,” Kelly said.

But “one challenge they do not have [is] … an air base defense challenge. They just don’t, because they operate layer upon layer upon layer of S-300s and S-400s, as well as SA-23s, etc.” These nested air defense systems have provided Russian forces with good protection against air attack, Kelly said.

In revenge Putin plans to nationalize all foreign companies and their equipment in Russia. Well, that means nobody from abroad wants to start a company in Russia in ages.

The biggest export countries of wheat in world were by Russia and Ukraine together some 30% from these. Now this will be gone. The countries most dependent on the wheat export were Lebanon, Egypt and...wait for it.. Turkey. Turkey is a Nato country and cannot now make separate deals of wheat with Russia. Earlier Turkey was a "true friend" of Russia as well. A famine might change your mind. Good bye Russia's friends.

All the countries practically have decided about new fast increases to military budget in Europe due to Putin. Russia will collapse due to sanctions one day or the other. And Putin will be blamed as Russia has been excluded from economical growth for tens of years. European countries have developed other energy means since 2014 and even the Finnish trade with Russia has gone down 50% since 2014. I was personally surprised as it has not changed anything in Finland. I can only see Russia lose all they had gained after the USSR and going even deeper in the economical pit. There are new sanctions every week.
If Putin nationalizes foreign companies how are you gonna save the country with 5,000 vehicles and empty shopping centers.

Russia blames Ukraine for not using the human corridors they have agreed upon. However, Russia forgets that the corridors are mined, Russia keeps shelling them, and Russia only allows people to go to Russia or Belarus, not backwards to Ukraine. Somehow they forget this part.

China does not comment much of the war or civilian deaths. If they finance Russia I think they are guilty of prolonging the war.

China seems to be on the brink of sending military help to Russia and its fighting in Ukraine. Officially China refuses any talk of military help to Russia but the latter country has asked for Chinese help. Looks like China wants to be separated from other foreign country contacts.

Ovetshkin should be kicked out of the Washington Capitals

The man, even if I respect him as a hockey player, is pro-Putin and keeps a net site that holds Putin as an intelligent and wise leader. He does not condemn Putin. What a ******!

I say, end his contract and kick back to Russia. We don't need him. We don't want him.
