Mussolini was a idiot and Hitler but if Mussolini and Hitler were never allies than hitler would not have had to storm the Balkans and eastern Europe like he did and concentrated on Britain would this change the war?

Good question. Some research should reveal the answer.

I know what it is it was win Germany launched a well over 1,500 mile front attack against the Soviet union and pushed as far as Moscow and captured important cities like Kiev and Kirov and laid siege to Leningrad(St.petersburg) but was beaten back by the soviet winter counter attack.

Horray for Google. Now, put that in the context of your question.

I didn't use Google and Hitler attacked eastern Europe because of Mussolini just like that's why he had to send Rommel to north Africa.

Hitler attacked eastern Europe because of Mussolini? So, Italy tried to take Leningrad?

No because Mussolini attacked Albania and got his @$$ kicked so the Germans had to invade the Balkans.

Thus delaying Barbarossa. But what does that have to do with England?

Now compare the dates for Operation Sealion with those for Operation Barbarossa.

It was planned for September of 1940 long before Barbarossa.

And when was it canceled? (Relate that to planning for Barbarossa.)

Between October and June during the Balkans campaign.

And for all practical purposes Sealion was a non-starter in late 1940. So Hitler went into a stalemate on the West and planned his moves East. The side trip in the Balkans therefore did not affect his attitude toward England, but delayed Barbarossa long enough for Russia's greatest general to get involved in the fight.

I would direct your attention to the numerous Barbarossa threads and possibilities already posted. Use the Search function. Let's not have this turn into another endless argument, or risk this thread being closed.

Well it wouldn't have effected the war with Britain if Barbarossa wasn't delayed. Who knows, maybe Germany would have had a swift victory over Russia - who were unprepared as it was!

Mussolini didn't get his 'butt kicked' in Albania. He got bogged down in Greece, which actually drew British Forces away from North Africa temporarily. The Germans sent troops to help out and Greece did fall. This had little effect on the decision to invade Britain or Not and also did not effect the outcome in Russia.
