there was a ww1 dead body found in belgium. it was found in the wood still in the uniform. What would you do if you found the body?
Do you have more of the story, a link perhaps? I'd notify the local authorities, the man needs a burial and could possibly answer one family's question about a family member who is listed as MIA.

I'd made sure he'd get a nice official burial next to those who fell with him .I'd do some research to find his relatives and if this would not be successful "adopt" the grave and lay flowers on it on November 11th

Bodies are found on the former Western Front all the time; hardly a month goes by when one isn't found. Most are buried as unknowns and get no publicity. For a while the Commonwealth War Graves Commission announced re-burials on their site, but that seems to have stopped. I have been present at the exhumation of a number of soldiers over the years, and it really is one of the most moving things to be present at.
I would contact authoritites, and definitely not touch it. Wouldn't want to destroy anything or disturb the dead...
