What in your opinion is the best gun/weapon used in WW1 - WW2 ?
A personal favorite of mine is the STG44 , or the MP40 , but i would be interested to know your views on this .

Most bullet-inflicted wounds were from machineguns in WW2. I would say the US 50 cal. HMG and the German MG42 in both LMG/HMG mode were the best.

It is rather telling that both guns are still used in modern armies.

For what, assault, defense, support, cover, destruction, suppression, close combat, long range shooting, and that is only in terms of the standard infantry. If however you are reffering to AT guns or the cannons on tanks, did you mean, for piercing armour, breaking fortifications, infantry support and other.

The point is you kinda need to narrow your critera down a bit, there are many differnet weapons designed for many different types of situations, comparing an MG 42 to an MP 40 is like comparing an Orange to a Mango, sure the orange gives out alot of citris but what if you want mango juice? lol, after rereading that it doesn't even make sense to me.

Anyways could you be more specific?

    In my opinion:
Bolt Action Rifle: Short Magazine Lee Enfield.
    Semi-Automatic Rifle: M1 Garand.
    Light Automatic: MP-44
    Heavy Automatic: MG-42.
