The grey ribbed tricot material used in this Schirmmutze will be encountered in issue service caps of enlisted and junior officer grades. Note that this example has both badges in the regulation issue stamped white metal alloy.

Grey silk-effect material is used to line the inside top of the crown, with an unusual change to field-green material around the sides. Note the manufacturer's details on the sweat-shield; and the ventilation perforations in the sweatband.

Nice thread. However, that peaked visored cap is not Artillery--it is in fact--one for the Feldgendarmerie/Recruiting. I have one in my small collection which also is made of doe-skin quality wool. It did not come matched with my Artillery Majors tunic but--the cloth and the color are exact matches.

Orange is the farbe color for their Military Police and Recruiting troops. Red is for Artillery.
