Jumpin Joe was the only American to fight with the Russians and his comrades.

One of my all time favorite WWII book was about a US pilot who was forced to land on Russian airfields and was converted into a Russian infantry foot solider. It was fictional of course, in it he fell in love with one of the Russian Blackwitch pilots, it also depicted some of the brutalities committ by Russian troops on German soil. Again, it was a fictional work. I wish I remember the name of that book.
