In this new thread, I'd like to shar ewith you a few document sthat yo umay not know off, namely the occupation issues (currencies) by the WWII ARMIES (not the local governments) . Did you know that soldiers from almost evey nationality involved had such currency? Here are a few examples, if there is interested I shall post many more and let there is new thread grow. German occupation in Bohemia-Moravia 1945 allied occupation in Austria 1945 allied occupation in Germany 1944 allied occupation in France
Westerbork (Holland) concentration camp currency (rare) Dutch West Indies bill from 1943 Laibach (Lubliana , Slovenia German occupation )
I've got some german POW currency, very small about the size of an old fashioned theatre ticket. All my stuff is boxed away at the moment or I'd take some pictures. Found it in a flea market in France.
Don't worry Lippy, no need to open all your boxes. I will post a few pictures of these soon. I have already posted the 100mk in post one , it's bigger because of the higher value , but the 1 mk is smaller and almost square.
This is reich issued not allied, they're literally about 1.5cm by maybe 3cm, complete with eagle and swastika. I'm interested to see what you've got.
Allow me a few days and I will post them , even though I said I wasn't going to put regular issues here, just occupation currency, but that doensn't matter after all
Hey Skipper, if I can find the ones I have, they're yours if you want them? I know I still had at least one of them because I saw it when I was packing up all my stuff back in July--before I moved. It may take months though, before I run across it/them.
Hi Carl , sorry for my late answer I only just read your latest post here. I'd be delighted to have them, but don't spend the whole week looking for them, there is no hurry.
Here's some Japanese occupation currency from the Philippines. Though I know a lot of us here cringe when wikepedia is mentioned, their page showing pictures of Japanese occupation currency in the PI is spot on. I know because my mom kept a collection and put them in her scrap book.
Hi Falcon, thanks for posting in this section as well. I have nothing against Wikipedia. It is easy for ome to criticize but let them make thier own then. The Japanese occupation bill is in good condition. Glad you mum kept a few as collectables
Hi Skipper, sorry I didn't see your last reply. I THINK I may know where they are-I THINK I have more than just one-but not 100% sure? Anyway, next time I think about it, i'll look where I think they are at-and will pull them out for you and give you a hollar. At least I will not take forever in mailing them-i'll mail it as a regular letter.
Maybe a bit late to reply now, but I just came by this site because I was googling around for paper money, which I collect, and I was intrigued by this post. Lippy, are you referring to these: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2508/4160270574_97168cb77d_o.jpg ?
