I have a WWII enlisted Dress Blues uniform. It has 3 stripes on the collar and cuffs and 3 slashes on the sleeve. The odd item is the dragon inside the left shirt cuff. Does anyone have an idea about the dragon? What it means? Where it comes from?

You could use photobucket, or go down to where you post a quick reply, then press "Go Advanced", scroll down and you will see "Manage Attachments", and upload them there.

Hi everroy, post your pictures on any image hosting site (use google to find one) . Then once your pics ar eon this buffer zone site, copy and paste them here . You need to post on an internet site before you paste it on a forum.

the three slashes on the sleve means the owner's rank was "seaman".
The dragon on the cuff could a be a prewar symbol that he had been to Asia.
The three slashes on the cuff means that he has been 18months at sea (6 months each hash mark)

of cours this is all subject to change once pictures are posted

Could it be some kind of tailor's mark? I've seen something similar from those who served in the Philipines

Thats just a piece of silk cloth....from either China or Japan to show that the wearer had been to the orient.

We did the same thing with Japanese yen by hanging them from out dog tag chains. Not everyone is in to tattoos.
