If I may intervene. A practical example of what you have just written. Multiply all numbers by four and will be in the States.

€ 1,500 in the pocket of a Spaniard. You have already been removed € 280 for public health and unemployment insurance and a future pension. The company would have paid about 200 € yet for the same purpose. Plus income tax, 15% withholding on the 1,500 €. And VAT, and tax on fuels ...

As you say This IS NOT A FREE LUNCH.

The guys of the Goverment are spending the money of pension funds to buy their own debt issuance.

Health System: I suspect that research that made it possible medical advances wich are now being implemented throughout the world were born in the USA. Such a good part.

On the quality of the public health system: The rooms are horrible, but I live in the best place if you need a kidney transplant, heart ... Of course in that, half of the credit goes to my fellow citizens.

It has written than the Public health care of the Swedes, Swiss and French are better. So, how is the British public health? I'm not sarcastic, in fact we have many "medical tourists" from GB.

Unemployment:20%. Obviously that ratio means that a lot of people is working out of the system.

That is exactly what happens in highly socialized countries. The "free" economy becomes largely a black market. The Soviet Union had exactly that sort of problem on a massive scale to use one of the better examples. Tax evasion becomes a national pass time too.

    Just for fun.

    See:

    Health Reform

and click on each state to make comparisons. The interesting part is that the data is compiled from non-partisan statistics like Kaiser State Health Facts, the AMA, and government records.

Now as those kick in, or start to kick in how are the opponents going to sell their alternative plans? Put the cap on payments for any medical payment back on? Make it legal to raise your premium without justification legal again? Make the "pre-existing condition" refusal to insure legal again? Make the "dropping" of those who cost the insurance people too much legal again?

This plan may not be anything like what is or could be "perfect", but we cannot start to do anything if we don't have somewhere to start from.

BTW, the individual mandate was an idea the Republicans floated in the 90s to kill Hillarycare. They loved it then, including Newt G., they hate it now. Wonder why?

You know, I was just thinking....

Canada and Europe and Australia all have Public Health Care....yet, whenever people in those countries need surgeries etc, where do they go? The United States. Just like the PM from Canada came down for surgery a few weeks ago. Once the US goes over to Obama-Care, won't that somewhat screw the rest of the world over? They won't be able to come here to get their surgeries etc since they'll just be stuck on the end of the list...

I've been flowing around in the background and watching but wanted to thank ya' Clint. I'll answer your last two word question with one word: POLITICS !

    Mussolini,
Many come to the US for the 'post-op' care more so than the surgery itself.
This link explains one aspect for Britain.

So, why don't they get their post-op care in their socialist utopia where they come from?

And if this Obamacare is going to be the cats meow, why won't congress and their families be on it?

A very good and interesting question! Has anyone read anything more on the legal battle to get rid of obamacare?

I didn't know England had gone Socialist.
As for the esteemed representatives not signing up for it; The same reason they have their own Gym, free haircuts, interns to do their research, speech writing and God knows what else. Why should they take a "Public Option" when they can make the rules: one set for them and another for the rest of the Nation and let us pay all their perks.

Forced universally mandated healthcare is socialism. We're just about half way there now with all the gimme programs we have in place, and with the current administration we have, it's only a matter of time before we will be a socialist country through and through.

And the reason congress and their families will be exempt from Obamacare is because it SUCKS and they know it....

I find it hysterically funny that many of the protestors today are happily taking Social Security checks. Why don't they show their disgust with this kind of thing by returning the checks?

Has anyone seen anything further about the states lawsuit to block obamacare? I know that there were the original 14, and was told that there were others joining the suit, but it seems our obama-tainted media is avoiding all coverage of this (for some strange reason).

Anyone got an update for me?

I'm not sure what "news" you watch, but it is mentioned every night on the news here in Northern Minnesota. Just watched the congresswoman from Minnesota on the Sunday morning talking points shows and the Duluth news stations.

Ah, but the implication is that "Obama-tainted media" are covering it up, so that must be true.

I once heard about a "viscious attack" on a USN cruiser in China, around 1938, IIRC. The poster said it had been completely covered up. I went to the NYT files and found a report on the front page. Pretty pathetic cover-up, I must say.

    Some new tidbits:

Arizona is possibly going to join the lawsuits against this bill regardless of the state AG not wanting too (a Democrat). It has yet to be seen if this will happen.

Buried in the bill is a requirement that all chain resturants nationwide now begin posting calorie and nutrition information on their meals and other food products. The intent is that this will somehow change people's eating habits and make them healthier.
My suspicion is that it will raise the price of meals in those resturants slightly due to the paperwork etc., involved while doing NOTHING to change people's eating habits. That is to say, people who already count calories and that sort of thing will have an easier time. The rest of us who are sane won't give a hoot in hell about the calories or nutrition information. We'll still order the same stuff in the same quantity.

But, fear not! This will prove just a first step in regulation. When the health nuts realize that few, if any, are paying attention to their "nutrition information" they will then begin to set standards for various types of meals and such to ensure we are protected from ourselves and our ill-considered ways.....

It's already working in New York.
