Good evening everyone- My great uncle was a B-17 pilot in north Africa/Italy, and retired a colonel. I would like to find out more about him. He didn't really tell us much of the war, just a couple stories of his B-17 windscreen getting blown out in mid-flight... twice... I really wish I video taped his funeral- the Air Force put on the most amazing & beautiful funeral I've ever seen in San Antonio. I mean, better than any funeral I've ever been to period. Thanks for any information you may have. I have figured out most of it, but the Decorations are a bit cryptic. Even Google is a bit confused. AM, Ltr, Hq97BombGp, 43, (P);AFCM, P3SOG6, DAF, 61, (P);JSCM, GO15, USARSO, 63, (P);EAMECM; ADSM; ACM; WWIIVN; AFLSA(W/5); NDSM(W/1); AFCM, W/1 OLC, DAF, Oct 68// Thanks all- I know that is a lot of abbreviations, and the family appreciates your time.
