Hi, Im new to this forum and im trying to do some research on the nazi flag my grandpa gave to me 2 years ago. He said it was captured in the battle of the Bulge. Its in pretty decent shape has a few bullet holes through it ect...but its intact. Is there any museums or collectors out there that deal with old memorabilia? Any help would be great. I can get some pictures if needed. Thanks Russ
post the pics it could be just a standard everywhere seen red body with white center circle and the ugly black swastika in the center, fairly common really but please post some pics and we can gather some price info for you.
while your at it so you are familiar with some of the members go to the forum headed Militaria and glean through the threads there, we have some pretty knowledgeable folk that camp here
I measured 47 1/2" by 26 1/2" the writing on it says: Kr.FL. 80x155 and NVREVVIISSINGEN & CO SKATOENFABR HELMOND (HOLLAND) Thats what i can make it out to be anyway.... Ant help would be great. Thanks again!
The flag appears to be the Nazi Reichkriegsflagge (war flag) from 38-45. I don't speak german so I can not help with the writing. hope that helps Mike
well no probs Mike, you made a good guess though, you are talking of the typical rather oversized red banner flag with white circle and the black crooked cross-swastika, produced in many different sizes and placed by thousands everywhere in the Reich early war. Have to say that Germany during per war and early war years were real big on showy flag ceremonies and flag placements from windowsills
Well, no. I was not thinking of this but further checking unearthed this War Ensign 1938-1945 (Germany) War Ensign 1935-1938 (Germany) It appears that in fact all services used this flag. The KM approved version should have a seperate stamp...
Mike that is what I was trying to explain to you, red background, white center circle, black national marking...what you have shown in the small pic. the flag in the first posting is the KM usual style and was of different sizes, and sure there were regimental flags and special district flags worn over the top of buildings as well. your link is incorrect as the navel ensign is from the war years as the ship photos suggest. the link for the war years is for the ensign as pre-war, right after WW 1
We have recently found a flag very similar to the one pictured above, except instead of the iron cross in the canton there is an eagle. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
