    MONTPELIER,OHIO - Homer H. Hays, 87, of Montpelier died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home.
    He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Bridgewater Township to Mary E. (Boyer) and Lloyd W. Hays, and they preceded him in death.
    A 1938 graduate of Pioneer High School, he graduated as class salutatorian. He was a World War II Army veteran, and was a prisoner of war from November 1944 to May 1945.
    Surviving are a sister-in-law, Helen Hays of Montpelier; nieces Kay Barret of Rossford, Ohio, Linda Glaser of Indianapolis, Ind., Dorothy (and husband James) Goodwin of Panama City, Fla.; nephews Steve (Sandy) Hays of Montpelier, Robert (Gloria) Hays of Simpsonville, S.C., and Joseph (Jennifer) Hays of Montpelier; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
    Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two brothers, James Hays and Eugene Hays.
    Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier.
    Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Graveside military rites will be performed by Pioneer veterans.
    Memorials may be made to the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building.
