Anyone got info or images of airplane nose art? I'm highly interested in this subject, so feel free to post any images or info you can scrounge up!

Thanks for the pics all! I love the "Peace Terms" and "Iron Ass", but all of them are great!

Yes they certainly did , but not on such a wide scale. This was not allowed, but in some cases tolerated. German nose art would often be depicted in white paint, sometimes even chalk that could be washed if an angry officer would demand this. Bomber crews would often have their bombs decorated with a "special wish" for the receiver. In some cases colour nose art was tolerated. For instance the famous airman Hahn had his aircraft decorated with a coq (Hahn) .This was later adopted by his squadron.:)

Personally I find the ID Markings and the "Defense of the Reich" Bands more intresting than the actual Luftwaffe Nose art, but some of it is still cool.

Nice stuff guys. A little disctinction if I may add this: The Grünherz (green heart) is a Geschwader symbol, not nose art as it is common to the whole Squadron.

I knew that it wasn't technically 'nose art' but I just thought it was a cool ID symbol so I posted it :)
