As a response to what seems to be an over worked Otto, I have posted my query here, hope it helps me and any one else with any similar problem. What does this mean, and can it be fixed? Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12224 bytes) in /home/otto/public_html/photopost/image-inc.php on line 103.
No idea, but it could possibly mean you're trying to upload a picture that is too large for this site to handle.
Were you trying to upload a picture TC? If so it looks like you exceeded the size limit. Even when file sizes are within the stated limits they can still fail down to the usual internet 'issues'. Really good idea to resize pics first, reducing time/bandwidth required to upload, and therefore the opportunity for errors. If you have no imaging program to do this, and are on windows XP, Microsoft do an excellent Windows plugin called 'image resizer' that can be downloaded free here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx Enables a right-click ability to resize pictures after installation. If you weren't trying to upload a picture... errrr... Cheers, Adam.
I just checked your area in the photopost server, and you had four large files that were clogged in the upload folder. Basically, the server can't handle uploads that are larger a certain allotment, when the files are too big, the script crashes. Unfortunately there is no fix for this yet, so the directory must be cleaned out manually (by me), which I have now done for you. Basically your files are too large for the script to handle, about 1 MB each. To get around this, resize your files before you upload them. The ones you tried to upload today were 3072 x 2304, so I'd go ahead and shrink them to 1200 x 900 and then upload them 5 at a time. Images in the Gallery cannot be larger than 1200 pixels in either dimension anyways. The script should shrink them, but if the files are too large it locks up. This shrinking will bring the file sizes down to about 0.2Mb from the original 1.0Mb, and is much easier on the upload script. So if you get this "Fatal Error" crash, you will need to let me know so I can clean out your upload section. After that, resize your images to (at most), 1200 pixels in the largest dimention. Finally, upload the smaller images 5 at a time. Hope this works for you Tomcat.
Interesting, I am installing and playing around now, I will let you know how I go. I hope it does to, I have been wanting to put some pictures of a working P-51 that is here in Australia as well as a wirraway, from my trip to the Caboolutre Museum.
Coolio. Once I come up with a system, I'll be accepting 'Photo Essay' requests, so you Rogues will be able to upload a series of photos and have them all contained within a dedicated gallery.
Tomcat, I wish you had mentioned a military museum in Caboolture before I was there in August. Unfortunately, my cousins would not have thought of telling me - assuming they know. Please let me know when you post, so I can see what I missed.
I say air museum, it was ,more of a small hanger with three planes, a mig 17, Wirraway, and the P51, as well as some smaller itrems such as radios and directional finding equipment. Very unfortnately my rechargable camera ran out during the process so I had to get as many photo's as possible within a few minutes. Due to almost all of the planes being flyable some were not there and were booked out for 'joy' flights, actually here is a link to a thread I did shortly after I did go. http://www.ww2f.com/free-fire-zone/23736-1-hour-museum.html
Otto, old bean. Could you possibly do the same for me. I got the "Fatal Error" crash, I've tried re-sizing but the original files are stuck in the 'Q' and are causing the crash every time I retry. Thanks in advance.
