Hey Everbody! I forgot to post these! So i thought I'd share them here, I have their signatures as well, but will have to post them tomorrow or Monday. It was great to meet these guys, and talk for just a short time with them. I wish I had more time to talk, but they had to catch a flight to the next stop on their tour! Me and my heroes!! A little hard to read but I'll try to remember who they are! From the picture, left to right, from the signatures, bottom to top: Leo R. Gray, a Tuskegee Airman, Pilot P-51. this signature I dont remember, Pilot B-24. Donald ............., Bombadier B-24. Terry..............., Pilot B-24. I really missed the boat here! They were waling around and I completely missed them! By the time I did catch up to them they were waiting on the tarmac for their departure flight! I was happy to get the opportunity to convey my gratitude to them for their service.
Scott by chance did you get the 3 B-24's members bomb groups ? looks like it was a hoot being with these noble men
Hey Erich! Unfortunately I did not! I was only able to spend a few minutes with them. I had asked them to please give me their signatures with all the pertinent information on their groups and btn.'s and such, but they may not have heard me. The P-51 was taking off in the background! The only thing we actually discussed was that at my size there was no way I would have gone into the AAF! I'm way too large! They got a kick out of that! All of them were very funny!
likewise in real person, letter, email, phone call, etc................go to reunions if invited, etc., chat with the vets on this very forum .......... on it goes, needs to be done to save the window of history we are interested in, in all facets E ~
Do you remember what were the names of the two aircraft in the background were? I'd like to find their pages.
Great Photos, I'd love to have the oppotunity to sit down with veterans and just listen to their stories.
Hi Scott, thanks for those photos of the WWII Vets. I hope you meet many more as well and post about them here. One of these years, i'll finally get around to posting pics taken at the U 181 Vets reunion as well as taken at Remy Schrijnens home. Anyway-many thanks Scott--best wishes--Carl.
Thanks guys! I started a thread about the aircraft, in case you want more pics of the aircraft. http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-today/21774-my-walk-thru-b-17-a.html http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-today/29372-my-walk-through-b24-p51-pics-well.html But here are the names of them: The B-24 is named "Witchcraft". The B-17 is the "Nine-O-Nine" The P-51 that was there was the "Betty Jane" I'm pretty sure that all three are from The Collings Foundation.
Thanks Michelle and texson! It's always such a pleasure for me to meet these great men! I'm happy to share this with you!
