Glad to see this Lou, I visited the "Mighty Mo" when I was a punk kid in 1962 while at the Seattle Worlds Fair. She was "mothballed" over at Bremerton, but for the fair days they opened up more of the ship than was open to the public before or after.

The front turret and some of the bridge areas were opened (behind ropes of course), and guided tours were given. Very impressive to a twelve year old going on thirteen. Stood on the then "newly" oiled teak deck, gazed down at the bronze plate where the signing took place, and was in awe.

Glad they are doing this before it got to the terrible expense of refurbishing the Intrepid! That was a case of "waiting" too long, and the fix cost more and more each year they put it off. Of course not being a part of the National Park Service has both its advantages and disadvantages.
