My nephew, 107thcav, introduced me to the WWII Forum and encouraged me to join up, and here I am. I'm a retired librarian, longtime history buff, and during my life have collected about everything that isn't nailed down, from U.S. Civil War memorabilia to fossils! History, vintage music, and movie memorabilia are my main interests these days. And gardening in the summer (snow here now, so no garden work!). At the moment just lurking around and enjoying the threads. So much to read, so little time! My user name is henryburr after the old time recording artist Henry Burr, who worked for Victor in the 'teens-'20s era and performed for years after that--even on National Barn Dance, I think! Otherwise, I'm Robert Taylor--no connection to the movie star, I got the Robert from the dr who delivered me!
Glad to welcome you aboard Uncle. My Uncle is quite famous in very many circles and I am thrilled to see him on here. My friends he is as victorian as you can get. The civil war collecting is just the tip of a large iceberg. I have learned and hundred if not thousands of students like me have learned from him and his love of history and the arts. See you around on here uncle as Karloff would say in his old show this will be a Thriller.
Uncle Robert, A friend of Eric's, is a friend of mine! Greetings from Denver, CO. Looks like you'll fit perfectly round' these parts. Enjoy your stay, and have fun here all the best, Jem
Thank'ee, JW and Jem (and nephew!) for the welcome! I'm slowly finding my way around these halls and having a good time. A longtime Anglophile, you might find me in an old leather wing chair pulled up in front of the fireplace with a glass of port or a cup of tea! Hope to see you all circled 'round the fire for a happy Christmas/New Year drink at some point here!
