yupper, I sure didn't see Kiffen (sp?) getting the spot. His record as a head coach is pretty dismal, in both the NFL and the college levels. I wonder how many coaches turned Carrol's old job down before they got to Lane?

I think at least two turned it down; Del Rio and the guy at Washington(?) who was on the SC staff before last year. I think I was next in line.

I think only 2 turned it down. Still one of the most coveted jobs in college football. Even if they did give it to a lousy no good talentless pretty boy that won't be able to win in an easy conference either. I add him to my list of hated names. Now, all Tennessee needs to do is hire someone to teach their up and coming thugs how to properly hold onto their handguns and we'll be ok.

He has his work cut out for him. I've read that four top recruits are now re-thinking their commitments. 3-4 loss seasons will be the new norm for USC.

Welcome back to the family, Luke. Like a lot of teams, Tennessee had to have a fling with a whore, now it is back down to Earth and hiring a coach that better fits the school. Kiffen was so not Tennessee.

It's times like these that try a fans soul. I didn't like him from the first time he had an NCAA violation BEFORE BEING HIRED! So we'll see. At least I still have the glory filled days of years past to look back on. Not that an Alabama fan would know anything about glory da...oh, wait...never mind.

It's times like this that make me glad I'm a Penn State fan. I think Paterno might last forever.

I think he actually retired in 1984, died in 1998 and his body just doesn't know it yet.

That might be so, but his body sure has won a lot of games in the last 12 years. And, at least no one has ever accused him of skirting the rules.

Penn State is a class program. I am glad that the two teams will be playing each other next year.
