Recently while on the internet I found a picture of my father receiving a Silver Star from General Van Fleet at the George Patton musuem. He was a member of the 90th signal company. I have become very interested in the fields of battle and the history of the 90th I do not have my father service number. Any suggestion how to get it so I can try to get his record from the Government. Also on other forums I have seen post from a man with the last name McFarland. His father was a member of the 90th also. Anyone know of him or how to get in touch. I believe the son was later a member of the special forces in the late 60's. Any help with and of these questions would be reall helpful. thanks
You can look at this thread to see how to get your father's records. http://www.ww2f.com/military-servic...esting-copies-military-personnel-records.html You can also try the NARA site here. Fill in as much as possible, following the directions given. NARA - AAD - Fielded Search - Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records) Good luck.
Let us know how you make out. There are many on this site who can give much more information. What was your father's name and where did he live?
You didn't post your father's name, but you might find a record about his Silver Star here Recipients of Major U.S. Military Medals

I'm thinking this might be your father's record. It includes the service number. NARA - AAD - Display Full Records - Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)

With that as a starting point, you can follow the instructions for applying for his records and any awards he was entitled to. Keep us posted on your progress.
Bud1614, If you are still reading this thread give me a shout. Our fathers were together at the Moselle crossing where your dad got his Silver Star. Contact me at sod403@aol.com. Jmac.
My grandfather, Stanley Kulak, was a member of 90th signal company also. I have a copy of his Army discharge paper which provides a tremendous amount of information and allowed me to request his service medals. I'd love to learn more about the 90th signal company's participation in the war and if anyone knew my grandfather. Thanks! Tracy
