Hi all, I’m currently undertaking research for a book that I am writing about a number of sporting events and sportsmen and women from the time of the Third Reich. The events I’m looking at include the 1936 Berlin Olympics, two international football matches; England v Germany in ’38 and England v Italy in ’37, Joe Louis v Max Schmeling in ’36 and ’38, the ‘Death Match’- a football match between ex-Dynamo Kiev players and a German team in Nazi-occupied Ukraine in 1942 - and the exploits of ex-pro baseball player Moe Berg during the final years of the conflict as the Allies looked to determine whether Germany posed an Atomic threat similar to that being developed within the Manhattan Project. I have found a wealth of secondary sources but would love to speak to people who have recollections (their own or passed down) of any of the events I’ve mentioned above. If anyone who visits this forum is in a position to help or offer any suggestions it would be great to hear from you. Best wishes Matt matt at seaviewmedia.com
