Survivor of Japan's brutal PoW camps, Alistair Urquhart, has finally committed his story to paper more than 60 years on - The Scotsman

 

sounds like a good book, perhaps difficult to read though on account of the harsh treatment he endured

 

Makes me even more angry now knowing that obama bowed to the emperor... give him this book.

 

This was my Dad. I am proud of him.

My Great Uncle wus Merchant Navy, torpeoded off Barbados Oct 39. Kept at Milag, near Westertimke, (Stalag Luft 3 ended up there!) when they were liberated in 45..............all they wanted was white bread. proper white bread! Luckily the yanks, liberated them! Set up a mobile bakery outside the camp!!

6 Years as a prisoner....................my Uncle loved the Germans. Not the Nazis, the Germans. Local farmers gave them eggs, on pain of death for god's sake!! Still gave 'em eggs!!

People are good, the World over. Nutters spoil it for the rest!!

My Uncle went back every few years after the war, to say thank you! (His older brother, my Grandfather, thought he wus nutz..........but he'd been at Loos, the Somme & Ypres....................)

We're very similar us and the Germans.
