If you want to read a great book about that time period, I would recommend the one by David Halberstam called; The Coldest Winter: America and The Korean War. It is a bit on the long side, but very detailed and eye-opening as to the political and military conflicts that helped make it "The Forgotten War". It is also the last complete book that Halberstam had only finished his "final polishing" and turning it over to the publisher shortly before his death in that traffic accident. He had been working on it off and on for years and years, and the investigation time he put in is obvious. Highly recommend this book.
