If aircraft guns interest you, then take a look at 'Flying Guns: World War 2' by Emmanuel Gustin and one other (modesty forbids my mentioning his name ;) )

This not only covers the guns and ammunition and their performance, with lots of data and illustrations, but also lists the combat aircraft and their gun installations. Not just the warring powers are included, but also countries like Switzerland and Sweden.

Details can be found from links on my website. Incidentally, 'Flying Guns WW1' is due out shortly and 'Flying Guns: the Modern Era' in Spring 2004.

I'll confess to seeing it in a shop and hopping from foot to foot with can-I-justify-the-expense indecision...maybe I'll have to ask Father Christmas nicely ;)
