German man seeks to thank Pittsburgh-area benefactors

    "A German man wants to thank three Pittsburgh-area soldiers he said helped his family at the end of World War II, including one who sent monthly care packages for nearly three years.

    "in two postcards mailed to City Council last week, Horst Pehl wrote that the men saved him and his brother from starvation.

    "'I want to say thank you very much after more than 60 years,' Pehl wrote."
