Nuremburg Guard

I am new and also very glad my friend Jim Bradley led me to this forum. I am a former guard at Nuremberg having
been a Sgt. of the Guard for seven months as a member of the 1st ID, 18th Reg't 1st Batt. Co B. I secured
the autographs of Herman Goering and 8 other defendants. I have just completed a manuscript of my book
"Sgt of the Guard at Nuremberg" detailing my experiences. Are there other former guards living who frequent
this forum? If so I would like to hear from you. Are there other Nuremberg Guard forums? Jim

I had the opportunity to have coffee with a fellow 1st division veteran,Sgt.Abner Ganet.He was also a guard at Nurnburg.
He is active in telling his experiences to many student audiences.Being Jewish,Abner joined the Army at 17 to go to Europe to fight against nazism.The liberation of the concentration camps being his deepest memories.My father was also at the trials,but was not a guard ,also in the 1st.If you would like Abner's contact information,send me a PM.

hi jim, my name is ernie townsend, my father was a guard at the nuremberg trials, he was a pti instructor first over in manchester oldham from here joined the army and ended up going over to normandy helping lay the petrol pipe lines from there went to nuremberg doing the nuremberg trials he was part of the big red one! i have been looking into my fathers time at nuremberg and it took me 12months to sort his past out and where he has been in this discovery i found out my father didnt recieve his medals, i have just had them presented to me! he was an mp also i have pictures outside of the cells at nuremberg! my fathers name was also ernest townsend! i also have pictures of my father hanging three men i would love for you to get intouch so i could ask u some questions look forward to hearing from you!

hi mr sharp.my dad was a guard nuremberg british also did some at hamberg.was with big red one .pvt personel phisical training instructor joined 745 tank battalion did petrol lines arromanches bayeux to caen with 341 company.doing black market raids with 745 also 59 company cmps.he never picked his medals up.he died 1986.i only found out months ago and sent for them france germany star 193945 star an war medal 1939 45 medal.they moved him about a bit.my dads name ernie ernest townsend from oldham manchester england.he played piano to also acrobatic fit strong.think he arrived at nuremberg prison court in a tank.well jim i was presented with medals by a major all done proper.but there is a mystery behind this .i remember things now what he said befor he passed away.my name same as my dads.hope to hear from you jim thanks.my phone 01612845189.

My father, Orin D. Lee, was also a guard at Nuremberg during WWII. He died in 1997. He served in the 3rd Army as a PFC. My brother has his diary with several signatures and comments from prisoners.

I just joined this forum in Nov2013.As I was reading posts I came across yours. I wonder if you remember me? I am doing research about my dad and I
contacted you after finding your name in The Bulge Newsletter. I spoke with you on the telephone and ordered both of your books. My dad was also a guard at the trial. He was in the 1st co. c 18th reg. You said you were most likely in the same places. Since I last spoke with you I came across a roster from 1945 with his name, rank, platoon ,and squad. I wonder if you might know any of these individuals. I tried to contact Lt. Ehlers but at the time he had broken his femur and was in rehab.

I was thinking about my Dad that passed away a few years back , So with nothing to do today Im looking at WWII stuff that I got from him that was left to me in a Will ,Two one dollar bills and papers that was signed , He to was a Guard at Nuremberg , I remember Him telling a lot of war stories to his friends and how he got the Germans on trial for war crimes to sign two one dollar bills , I was also looking at the Nuremberg trials on the net and came across this forum , So ill share the photos of them to you .
