Guys, I need assistance if any of you can help me.

I need a photo of a US M3 halftrack to put on the cover of the book I am writing and I have not had a lot of success finding what I need.

    It must be:

    1. Public domain or the owner is willing to assign user rights to me.
    2. Must be in the ETO or if buildings or flora are visible, they could pass for Europe. In other words, no palm trees or Asian or South Pacific-styled buildings.
    3. Must have men and equipment on it from the Western Front duing the latter half of the war. No Brodie-style helmets.

    I prefer:

    1. M2 .50 cal and/or M1919 .30 cal machine guns visible, but are not required. No M1917 .30 cals, quad mount .50 cals or cannons.
    2. Crew baggage on the outside.
    3. No canvas tops over the cab or rear of the vehicle.
    4. Other vehicles, men and equipment (jeeps, M8 Armored Cars, infantrymen, etc) can be visible in the photo, provided they also match the period and locations.

I will use a re-enactor photos if they are available and willing, as I plan to decrease the clarity of the photo to eliminate identifiable facial features if they are visible.

I have found a couple of pics, but I am not happy with them. If any of you can help me, I would appreciate it greatly.

Ask at the US National Archives-- I am sure they will have photos which will serve. Alternatively, contact the US Army Center for Military History and ask them for help. The US Army Patton Museum is the official Armor museum, and has just been relocated to Fort Benning Georgia. The US Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, is one of the world's best Tank collections. You can look any of them up on the web-- contact them and ask for help. Doc

Thanks guys for the pics and ideas.

I like both of the ones here for different reason.

Fort Benning is not too far away. It might be worth a trip, but will contact them before.

If you find a pic of an M-3 pulling a trailer, I'd like to see it, also.

    I've seen this one. Thanks!

Thanks. It is towing a 57mm gun and the man in my book never did that. I don't think I would be able to use it.
