Hello, all-

I am looking for a publication or information regarding WWII island fortifications in the United States. Has anyone come across a book that addresses this subject specifically?

Thanks for any help or thoughts!

If memory serves me right there is a volume in the Osprey Fortress series about US coastal defenses, it's Osprey though!!!

If there is something, this would be the place where I would start my search:

Fortress Books - Books on fortification, artillery and military history

You could try flipping through the field manuels here. Quite a few deal with fortifications.
HyperWar: U.S. Army Field Manuals
Please give the Combined Fleet the chance to bloom as flowers of death. This is the navy’s earnest request. RADM Tasuku Nakazawa prior to the Battle of Leyte Gulf
It is the function of the Navy to carry the war to the enemy so that it will not be fought on U.S. soil. Admiral Chester W. Nimitz

Thanks, Skylinedrive. I will check it out.

Is Osprey suspect? I am not familiar with it.

Some of the Osprey volumes are a bit light in terms of detailed information. They're good "general overview" books. I personally like them, but they're a pricy for what you get (~100 page softcover book for 25 bucks here in Canada).

Best Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the info, Alan. I will see if the library has it then.
