Has anybody got any info on Hauptman Horst Maier?

He flew with Stab/JG1 early January 1944 and had his first victory on Jan.5.

    Stevin :

Sorry but my references on JG 1 are pretty darn weak. Most of my data base covering the day fighters is on the units, JG 3, JG 4 and JG 300, JG 301. Plus the twin engine materials are slowly growing.......

Thnx for looking Erich, I appreciate it.

The man remains elusive. And those 4 JG's and the ZG's are dear babies that do derserve all your attention!

If he had been an RKT or perhapse a DKiG Recipient--I could better help on him.

Apparently his full name is Horst Maier ten Doornkat. He joined Stab/JG1 in december 1943 and that's all we know. This information came to me through another board, but maybe this will trigger something here.

I did an extensive internet search but came up with nothing...

So also nothing on any decorations he might have gotten

Ill ask a friend of mine in Fraince, to look in his copy of the DKiG recipients book that he has and see if the man is listed in it. If he is though--it will only tell you what unit he was in--his rank and the date of the award--skimpy info at best. Ill let you know when I hear back from Francois. Hopefully he is a DKiG and will definately be listed in his book.

If his name isnt in that book--ill also let you know.
