This is a great overview of some famous WW2 wrecks. Some are in great condition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=SnnmXQE1Xi4&feature=endscreen
The retrevial of "Glacier Girl", shown at 1:50-1:53 still amazes me. Gotta' be one of the most difficult projects ever.
Their is something sad about seeing all those great and now rare aircraft in that condition but I really enjoyed the video. Many thanks , I have not seen it before. Gaines
What I'd give to have one of those bent propellers or a side panel propped against my basement rec-room wall !
Very cool video; I recognized the craft at 0:30 and remembered this video about that same wreck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jueDXiuU6aM The 190 was found in a forest outside Leningrad in 1989. The plane suffered from mechanical failure in its engine after being damaged by flak. The pilot, Paul Rätz, survived, was taken prisoner, and passed away in 1989.
Whose markings are on the B17 at 2:39? Looks like British or Commonwealth? Or is it a star in a circle?
Not Nazi, Finland Brewster Buffalo. Note the swastika is 'backward' and rotated from the Nazi version.
