Bringing the Thunder: The Missions of a World War II B-29 Pilot in the Pacific (Stackpole Military History Series) by Gordon Bennett Robertson, Jr. Stackpole Books (November 10, 2006) 304 pages ISBN: 978-0811733335 War is not fought by machines, but by men. This particular man always had a love for airplanes and flying. When His country called, he answered the call of duty, eventually becoming a B-29 bomber pilot / airplane commander. This story hits close to home. My grandfather was a Pacific theater bomber gunner who likely crossed paths with this author. His was the greatest generation, the men and women who saved the world and secured the peace. We honor them when we take the time to read and remember their exploits: ordinary people living in extraordinary times, performing heroic and selfless acts. I would give this book 3 stars out of 5. (The subject matter alone makes this an interesting read, regardless of its literary shortcomings and need for extensive editing.) I have posted the full review on my website. Thanks.
