In a rather unique way...I wonder if he did not have a small role in fanning the flames of the Pacific War. Impossible to say how much his book pissed-off the "enemy"...but I imagine it must have fueled the fires a bit. I am NOT a code guy...so my presumption may be wrong...but I am surprised that Japan did not guard/change their WW2 codes better and more often, after reading his book. People forget a lot of important things in just a few short years I suppose...I know I do. Perhaps with their new code(s)...the Japanese figured there was nothing to worry about. Anyway....definitely a movie in his life. He was lucky he lived when he did, and was able to stick it to the USA. If he were alive today...there would be a USA chalk line waiting for him...much like with the Edward Snowden case. Cryptography is a very interesting subject. The intellectual horsepower some of those guys had...Bletchley especially...is still very impressive today. Maybe even more so..... best http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Yardley
