One of my favourite B&W war films "The sea shall not have them" depicts RAF Motor launch/MTB searching for downed Bomber crew and very important passenger in the North Sea. It was filmed off the coast near Felixstowe, Felixstowe being a RAF rescue base, with boats and seaplanes.
The Sea Shall Not Have Them (1954) - Dirk Bogarde, Michael Redgrave, Anthony Steel - (One Hour 31 Minutes.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_igKrz3BqSQ
Funnily enough, his Urq-ness and me discussed The Sea Shall Not Have Them not that long ago. Superb links, Fred. Thanks.
