Would you go see this movie about Leo Major?

Quebec film maker Michel Jetté has been trying to put together a movie co-production deal since 2011 about the exploits of Leo Major DCM BAR.

My son decided to do an oral presentation on Leo Major and I had no idea who the guy was. Further research just left me speachless.

 

To be honest I am chary about going to the cinema simply due to the cost involved and for me it needs to be something worth seeing on the big screen based on its visual content like the recent Hobbit movies. Could be a great story, but likely not something that would have universal appeal that gets greenlit in a major studio.

 

Would you rent it or stream it?
Given it would be Canadian made, I don't expect a big budget film.


Belasar, had you heard of Leo Major before? I've been reading about WWII since my early teens and obviously have a Canadian bias and had never heard of this amazing man before. I also have not found any threads here by doing a search using his name.

Hopefully that documentary gets made, at least.

 

I don't rent or stream, but if it caught my eye at my local Wal-Mart for a reasonable price I would likely pick it up.

 

In doing further research I read that Jocelyn Major, the loving son of Léo Major and his biographer, has been battling cancer for several years. He expressed hopes of living long enough to see the movie being prepared by Quebec film maker Michel Jetté.

Sadly, I also found the following notice:

(The notice reads: "Jocelyn Major passed away october 10, 2013 at the age of 57 years...")

I haven't found any other funeral notices to confirm this is the same Jocelyn Major who is-was a member of this forum and did so much to raise awareness of his father's exploits in the second world war. The man portrayed below is Léo Major's son Jocelyn in Zwolle at the inauguration of the boulevard in his father's name. It seems to me that it is the same man. I apologize if this is a mistake on my part.

Skipper I would after reading your thread plus I am a fan of Canadian films. I am a fan of well written films, with no famous actors but good solid performers. I think Hollywood has done much to make blockbuster films so poular. One of my favorite films is "Tender Mercies ". It has Robert Duvall playing a forgotten country and western singer who finally gains a simple life. Slow paced, no sets , no action but a poignant story well done. Can a movie about war be made on a low budget, I do not know . "Battleground" came close to that but that was a different time. People expect big stuff now. But the French can do it if anyone can........Gaines
