World Wars history channel

So here in the states there was a build up of a new mini series to be shown on the History channel during Memorial Day. The show consisted of three episodes two hours a piece and included short backgrounds of the top leaders and some generals, along with a few battles.

I wasn't expecting much but must say I was a quite disappointed.

Any thoughts??

 

Grossly inaccurate and full of historical myth. Made for casual historians who won't delve into research.

 

The production team would have benefited greatly by having a military historian - other than the talking heads - on board.

I agree. If they weren't so focused on basing it around the popular figures of the war, they could have shored up the facts. Then again, it is the History channel.

 

Since when is Joe Lieberman a source?! Lol

I couldn't finish the series when it aired around Memorial Day and happened to catch the parts I missed this past week and remembered why I couldn't sit through it the first time. I had hopeful expectations when i saw the teasers for it, but couldn't and still can't believe that the History channel put out such dribble. I would have expected a production as poorly done as this as something put together perhaps by high school students with only a light understanding of what really happened. Seeing B-17's flying for the Luftewaffe while they are attacking Poland was a surprise for me. So many visual miscues that I thought I was watching a SyFy movie. Also, apparently we had modern day Aegis Cruisers running around in the Pacific when the war started, I can't understand for the life of me how the war took so long to be won then. There is plenty of "stock" footage out there to accurately depict that of which you are talking about in a documentary and to think the History channel can't get it right was amazing.
