    Please, Pretty Please?

There is SO MUCH information being released and coming to life.
The Official Secrets Act releases (circa 5 year intervals) over the past decade or two has slowly resulted in more and more stories and publications coming out from them.
Very very interesting, educational, stimulating and intellectually challenging stuff.

If skipper or someone is capable of transferring existing threads already up here on ww2f into the new forum
    - well... it could be chock a block with a host of really terrific stuff right off the bat in nothing flat.

    PLEASE?

Hundreds of previously secret files concerning the role of British intelligence in the Second World War and early Cold War have been released.
In 2005, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) released the first tranche of records from the Permanent Under-Secretary's Department (PUSD), the department responsible for liaising with the UK's intelligence agencies. A further 463 pieces have now been released into the FO 1093 series, covering the period 1939 to 1951, as well as 17 pieces from 1903 to 1913.
In addition, a collection of more than 100 files from the Cabinet Secretary's miscellaneous papers are being released for the first time into a new series, CAB 301. The papers, which cover 1936 to 1951, concern the organisation and funding of British intelligence.
A selection of the newly-released files can be viewed online.
    Highlights include:
    • assassination priorities ahead of Operation Overlord (D-Day) (FO 1093/292)
    • security matters relating to Wallis Simpson and the abdication of HM King Edward VIII in 1936 (CAB 301/101)
    • details of a British scheme to bribe Spain into keeping out of the Second World War (FO 1093/233 and FO 1093/234)
    • a first-hand account of a drunken wartime meeting between Stalin and Churchill (FO 1093/247)
Read The National Archives' blog for more revelations from the collection.

We already have that forum, but you don't have a high enough clearance to see it.

The best bet would be to start posting topics and see if there is enough interest to dedicate a specific area. The problem I see is that it would become inundated with conspiracy theories and foolishness regarding parachutes, silencers , ninjas and nunchaku.... with the odd throwing star for good measure.

I have been withholding HEAPS of really, really neat topics - because they would just get lost. - They need to be in one place that ties them all together.
Plus many have NO PLACE that would be suitable for them as things sit now.

Its up to us & the moderator to set the tone of the thing.
Creep shows get dishonourably discharged in a heart beat here. Even long time top notch posters have gone by bye in the blink of an eye here with barely a slip up or two.
    That won't change.

So I beg to differ. Strongly. The Secret War sections on ww2talk are spectacular. Ours could be too.

Fred , why copy what is on ww2talk ?
I thought the idea was to keep these forums seperate for each to do their own thing.

    But but but...

ww2talk is SO locked into everything UK.
ww2f fills a different nitch... and its a good partner forum needing its own Commonwealth / US Focus in the Secret War area.

    I second this.
I came from ww2tak, and seem to have been kicked out after 2 years (unclear, no explanation) because maybe I was too critical on a UK subject ?

Over here I see at a glance thru some threads, more depth and moreover more wider/global attention (less UK, more US, more SU).
Which is always a good thing.

But on this subject; yes, there is enough unclassified material coming up that deserves our attention.
And no, i don't think it draws too much conspiracy hokum. If so, it dries up/filters out automatically as arguments run out quickly.

From Just reading this thread...surely what's suggested is a must...the NEW information being released could have vast ramifications on what we 'think' we know about WW2...we have been reading and watching the exbigated version for decades...what has been conjecture could also be put to bed...

Too right. The other place is great in its own niche, but this one tends to have a broader remit (he says unblushingly...)

Just a little bit of input, but along with Fred Wilson's idea, there should also be something about the Navajo code talkers included. Just a thought
