Greetings, I am new, but I have something to share. While moving, my mother found some items of my grandfather's from the war. I have what I believe to be a Kriegsmarine flag. It is stamped NVPFv vLISSINGEN & So'S KATOEN FABR HELMOND (HOLLAND) on the left side of the hoist, the right side is stamped KR.FL 100x 170. Does anyone have any knowledge of these types of flags, their value, etc.? I googled it and got swamped, and not sure where to look, as there was some contridictory information. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hello car, you have a Dutch made German WW2 flag made by the Vlisco cotton factory (Pieter Fentener van vlissingen in Helmond) . It is an original one. http://www.hugovandermolen.nl/scripophily/Vlisco.php http://www.bndestem.nl/algemeen/binnenland/duitse-oorlogsvlag-van-helmondse-fabriek-1.523043
Thank you Kommodore. Does anyone know the value, is there a desire amongst collectors for this item? I have a greater interest in the Pacific war.
No, it didn't go on a vessel, this is a regular building flag, possibly unused. It was probably taken from a pole as a souvenir. A vessel one would have some wear (and fuel smell) , and as to U-Boote, they are all under the ocean my friend.
The story my mother tells me is that my grandfather siezed it from a German officer. He passed away years ago, and never said anything to me about the flag.
