Hi everyone, Wanted to share my grandad's story, which I'll post in What my grandad did in WWII. He was a rear gunner and when I recently went to IWM Duxford to view the Lancaster Bomber, which was the closest I could find to his Wellington Bomber, I was overwhelmed by the vulnerability of the rear gunner's turret. I had to put pen to paper and hope you'll enjoy the write up; including excerpts from his log book. Perhaps the visit was made even more poignant as I am also a RAF wife.
Welcome to the Forum, LouVic. Thank you for sharing your Granddad's story. We have a very popular Lancaster bomber thread in the Honor, Service and Valor section which has contributions from one of our members who is a WWII veteran. You might find it interesting. Please express our appreciation to your husband for his service, and know that we also appreciate the sacrifice made by the loved ones of service men and women who anxiously await their return home.
