    Hello!

I actually came to this site looking for reading suggestions on the campaigns in Southern France and on the Italian campaign 1943, but ended up reading lots of other stuff too.

So, to introduce myself, I would say that I'm very interested in WWII, especially the European theatre. I've read loads of books about the campaigns in Nothern France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium etc, and as I am Finnish, I'm also interested in Winter and Continuation War plus everything that has something to do with them.

I come from Western Finland, although originally my family pretty much comes from Karelia. My grandparents and their families fled from the banks of Lake Ladoga when the war began and many of my relatives (like most of the Finnish men at the time) fought in the war.

In the city where I live now is an airfield that the Germans used during the war. They also built many barracks and other buildings, but sadly most of them have been destroyed or were destroyed by the Germans themselves when they fled at the end of the war. The forest (where everybody goes for a run) right next to the airfield has some interesting parts though; there are a couple of roads the Germans built to turn their planes, and beside these roads are some sort of shelters (built of dirt, sand and wood) they rolled their planes in if there was an air raid. There are some foxholes too. And a rumour says that there is a German dump somewhere in the woods, but no one has found it.

I'm here to study WWII and as I said: looking for some book suggestions on Italy 1943 and Southern France and France overall (Dragoon, Colmar Pocket etc.)

    So, that's all :)

Welcome to the forums Co, plenty here to learn and share what you know. I have to ask, but what does "Co" stand for? And does everyone in Finland have such a fine knowledge of English in the written form? If you ever come to the US I can get you a job teaching English right away!

Thank you all, nice to be here!

"Co" doesn't actually stand for anything, I came up with it when I was trying to register to another forum and every possible username I wanted to use was taken :) So somehow I just ended up using "Co." and decided to use it here too.

And thank you for the job offer, I'll keep that in mind! :D I've actually learned most of my English by reading books about WWII in English, as the ones I have wanted to read have not been translated to Finnish.
