I read in one book that the Allied tested the people( security ) in London probably in 1944(?) and sent a man disguised as a Luftwaffe officer for one hour during which nobody really paid any attention.

I know there were loads of different uniforms around and this story can certainly be true but can anybody confirm that this happened? Or is there another story behind this? Or did it happen in 1940?

I know of a British para who was on urban battle training in a ruined area of London dressed up in German kit, as he was 'playing' the enemy, his mates thought it would be funny to leave him behind and he had to make his own way back across london, MP40 and all...

Again no-one paid him the slightest attention...
