The Deutschnationaler Jugendbund precursor of the HJ

I had never heard of this group until I bought an original listing archive with member details . All the dates showed birth around 1905 , so too old for the HJ (there are hundreds of names) . Then I found markings from The " Deutschnationaler Jugendbund" and after some googling I found some documents .

It was created as early as 1919 an absorbed in the Hitler Jugend in 1933 . It's described as "highly nationalistic and conservative and anti Versailles "

In 1924 it was renamed the Grossdeutscherjugendbund.

Interesting find. I read awhile ago there several youth organisations in Germany but piece by piece they were turned into Hitler
Youth Just like steel helmet was turned as an SA organisation as I recall it. So many German politicians etc underestimated Hitler.

 

The most interesting thing is that I have a list with about 400-500 members (from the Hamburg area) . I wonder how many I'll find on the German War Grave site. May they rest in peace.
