    Carl,
If it's any help, Britain had spent 5,782 MILLION on the war by 1943.

    Regards,

    Gordon

I've been investigating and I haven't been able to find much. But if this interests you, here is what Germany expent in WW II (cyphers are in billion Reichsmarks)

    Military   Civil
    1939-1940   38.0   20.0
    1940-1941   55.9   24.1
    1941-1942   73.3   28.2
    1942-1943   86.2   37.8
    1943-1944   99.4   30.6

    Finally got some figures. [IMG]

(Figures in 1941-1945 US dollars, which might be equivalent to 12-16 2004 US dollars)

The USA expent a total of $ USD 341.000.000.000 from 1939-1945 (50.000.000.000 of them were expend on Lend & Lease loans to Allied countries).

Germany expent a total of $ USD 272.000.000.000 from 1939-1945.

The USSR expent a total of $ USD 192.000.000.000 from 1939-1945.

The British Empire expent a total of $ USD 120.000.000.000 from 1939-1945.

Italy expent a total of $ USD 94.000.000.000 from 1939-1945.

    A comparative estimate:

In 1940 Germany was the country which expent most money in weaponry world-wide, $ USD 6.000.000.000. In 1943 that cypher had been doubled and reached $ USD 13.600.000.000.

    In 1940 the non-beligerant USA invested $ USD 1.500.000.000 in weaponry, and $ USD 37.500.000.000 in 1943.

As a footnote, the post-war 'Marshall Plan' for the reconstruction of western Europe cost the USA $ USD 13.000.000.000, 15% in loan concept and 75% in lost-fund donation.
