Hi all, I hope you are having a good day :).

My name is Stephen Mottershead (from the UK) and I have been interested in ww1/2 ever since I got in to antiques dealing 15 years age. I joined the forum because I needed to do some research and I am trying to find a DFM medal to complete a family collection of medals that the family sold to me a short while ago (they were the last in family).

Anyways I am happy to be here and I hope I can find some answer to my questions :)

Glad to have you aboard, Stephen. Good luck in your quest. My brief research for the DFM shows they seem to be expensive.

Thanks for the the kind welcome and glad to be here.

Yes they are very expensive and hard to find (because each one is named), but it would be good to get this collection complete because of the story behind it. Link to google books The family (the son of the sister of Sydney Smith) who I got them from did a lot of research trying to find the medal because they wanted to donate to a war museum but they never managed to find the medal and none of the museums want it :/. I have got the the Dads (John Smith) medals from WW1, the three Sons ( Sydney Smith (Died), Jimmy Smith (Died) and Jack Smith (lived) ) medals and lot of paper work (photos, original news cuttings and the papers that came with medals) so I am only missing that one medal and I would love to find it.
