At CBS, he was half the man he was at NBC. Tenth Year Anniversary, NBC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOGAKY-RqGw
Was hoping for a lot of clips, montages. But the last 4-5 shows were pretty lame...Read that CBS dumped the whole set hours after last show...Surely the set could have been auctioned...CBS didn't like Dave, methinks...Also think DL was prolly a huge ++++, and CBS wanted to ditch him even sooner. Just ruminating.
I was never a late night tv fan...who do you think would've bought the set?? half the man? did he turn?
People buy seats from old baseball stadiums, there'd be some bidders on parts of the set. I'd have bid if they accepted buttons. Yeah, he was half as funny as he was at NBC. Used to be irreverent, then totally predictable.
I always thought he and his sidekick (the band leader, Paul something-or-nuther) were mildly humorous and a bit irritating. Lost interest in late night TV when Jay Leno hung it up (again). I do wish him well, but not sorry to see him go.
Letterman used to be funny. Dude became a total jerk after Johnny then NBC snubbed him. DL was a tyrant...Not a big fan, but there is a certain nostalgia, like Carson (no angel), SNL, SCTV (Canada)- etc.
